We completed our logo design, hired an attorney for legal filings, and connected with key educators, including the Director of Seeds of Hope and a professor from the University of Hawai’i. With our EIN in hand, we opened a business bank account, rebranded as "We Strive for Literacy," and attended pivotal events like Benchmark Education and the Nonprofit Academy, emphasizing the crucial need for professional development for teachers. Following this, we conducted insightful interviews with literacy experts, attended the "Truth About Reading" documentary screening, and built relationships with key figures in the literacy community, including Jose Cruz, CEO of the San Diego Council on Literacy. We further expanded our network by meeting with John Corcoran, of "The Truth About Reading," to discuss collaborative efforts to raise literacy awareness in San Diego. We also filed our new name with the Secretary of State. These months have been vital in laying the foundation for future impact and collaboration.
